I apparently own a lot of pink. I knew I had a few pink sweaters - most given to me as gifts - and a few three-quarter-length shirts that I like to wear with white pants for a stark contrast.
But it wasn't until I pulled out all the pink clothing, jewelry, etc. that I owned that I saw just how much I have. It's a lot, but that's good.
Never have I ever planned my outfits for work... for the next month. Every single day in October, I plan to wear something pink.
It's Breast Cancer Awareness month, and I will do my part to make sure people I come into contact with are well aware. This is one of two causes especially near and dear to me - the other being the Humane Society of the U.S. (Adopt-A-Dog Month = June).
According to Breastcancer.org, about 1 in 8 women in the United States (12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. More than 1 in 4 cancers in women (about 28%) are breast cancer.
But then there's hope: In 2010, there were more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. Let's hope that number continues to climb.
Even Chloe has pledged to wear her breast cancer awareness scarf all month. Good dog.
